What’s inside

Everything you need. Just add learners.

Hands-on activities icon

Five hands-on activities

Five STEAM project builds on one theme, sequenced so each one leads into the next. Any activity also stands on its own.

Materials icon

All the materials, pre-sorted

Everything the five activities call for, bagged and labelled, much of it surplus RAFT kept out of landfill.

Facilitation guides icon

A facilitation guide

Plain, step-by-step instructions written for a teacher, a tutor or a parent. No science background needed.

Why it works

Thirty years of found engineering, packed small

RAFT has been turning Bay Area industrial surplus into hands-on STEAM materials since 1994. A Discovery Pack is that work at its smallest useful size: one theme, five builds, one small group.

01

Everything included

Materials, guide and sequence in one box. Nothing to print, source or shop for.

02

Zero prep

Sorted by activity. Open it, read the guide, start. No STEAM background required.

03

Standards-aligned

Each theme is built around one focus, NGSS-coded from Kindergarten up, so a pack can carry a unit rather than fill an afternoon.

04

Built from upcycled surplus

300 tons of material diverted from landfill every year by the nonprofit behind the box.
