Professional Development

RAFT professional development workshops are hands-on and provide real solutions for use in various learning environments. We tailor our workshops to meet specific needs of schools and districts. Whether PD support is needed for multiple-year, district-wide initiatives or small-scale pilot programs, we meet teachers where they are and work in partnership throughout the school year to inspire STEAM learning, integration, and implementation.

Some popular workshop examples include:

• Mini Design Challenges in the Classroom: Foster creativity and introduce design thinking with interesting recyclable materials!
• Integrated STEAM Education: Strategically integrate design challenges into existing or emerging lesson plans.
• STEM Learning Activities: Explore how to use RAFT STEAM Project Kits effectively to teach STEAM concepts, problem-solving, creativity, and application of learning.
• Create Your Own: Customize the above or contact RAFT to discuss other options such as developing maker mindsets, planning and materials management, cross-curricular instructional strategies, and facilitating community engagement events.

PD Workshop Formats

RAFT offers different workshop formats, each one taking advantage of our warehouse of bulk materials and extensive catalog of learning activities to explore STEAM concepts aligned to grade-level standards and best practices.

In-Person Workshops

In-person workshops can take place at RAFT or at your site. We offer in-person workshops available to all RAFT members and exclusive STEAM sessions designed specifically to meet the needs of partnering groups, schools, and organizations.

Hybrid Workshops

Our hybrid workshops are held at your site. RAFT delivers/ships materials in advance and our staff facilitates the sessions virtually.

Educator Lab Workshops & Events

We offer a series of member workshops and events in our Educator Lab for individuals or small groups who want to learn and use equipment for laser cutting, 3D printing, and more!
