RAFT in the Community

Whether out in the community or at our facility, we provide fun and engaging learning activities.

RAFT Maker Mobile!

The RAFT Maker Mobile comes equipped with all the tools, materials, and staff support to deliver our unique programming as a classroom extension. It aims to serve under-resourced schools by providing high-quality training and learning materials in an effort to close the equity gap. We thank the Sharks Foundation and Western Digital for their generous donation.

Please contact our Education team at education@raft.net to bring the RAFT Maker Mobile to your school!

Community Events

We support community events such as STEAM Showcases, family STEAM nights, and Generations Day. At these events, we can provide STEAM learning kits, design challenge materials, and support staff to engage participants in hands-on STEAM activities.

School Field Trips*

Interested in bringing students to RAFT? RAFT School Field Trips help develop skills and knowledge in multiple content areas and grade bands. Interactive tours teach students to learn to identify materials based on their attributes and think of potential uses. They apply this learning in several hands-on activities and design challenges aligned to standards that explore real-world phenomena through innovative design and inquiry.

*Pending due to COVID restrictions. For more information, please contact us or fill out the form below.

How much does a Maker Mobile event cost?

Pricing varies by activity and number of students served. Typical costs including staffing, materials, and tools: $350 per hour or $2,000 for a full day. Ask us about multiple-day and event discount by emailing us at education@raft.net.

How far will the Maker Mobile go?

The Maker Mobile will travel anywhere within Santa Clara County and areas of the adjacent counties of Alameda, Contra Costa, Monterey, Santa Cruz, and San Mateo. If you are located outside of our service area, please contact us at education@raft.net. We want to try and provide STEAM learning in as many locations as possible, and we have options for onsite field trips to RAFT.

What's the structure of the Maker Mobile program?

Maker Mobile activities can range from short hands-on engagements using one of RAFT's STEAM Project Kits to more intensive community service projects. We will gladly try and work within your parameters. Contact us for more information at education@raft.net.
