It is with deep sadness that RAFT marks the passing of Dr. Charles “Chuck” M. Geschke, co-founder of Adobe and RAFT STEAM Hero. Dr. Geschke founded Adobe with Dr. John Warnock in 1982 and changed how we share, create, and interact with information forever.

His legacy embodies the utmost accomplishment in STEAM as well as community involvement. Dr. Geschke earned his Ph.D. in computer science from Carnegie Mellon as well as a masters’ degree in mathematics and an A.B. in the classics from Xavier University. Throughout his career at Adobe, he was recognized as an industry leader in software development and received many awards, including the nation’s highest honor for technological achievement, the National Medal of Technology and Innovation.

In addition to these achievements, Chuck and his family have been pillars of the Bay Area community for their support of STEAM education since settling in Los Altos in the 1970’s. In September 2020, RAFT recognized Dr. Geschke and his wife Nancy for their years of supporting our educational community by naming them our RAFT STEAM Heroes of the Year.

Chuck is survived by his wife, Nancy, and their three children and seven grandchildren. RAFT would like to celebrate Chuck’s incredible accomplishments and dedication to our community.
