March 27, 2019 — The Board of Directors of Resource Area For Teaching (RAFT) today announced RAFT’s CEO, Sarah Slavin, has left RAFT. Since joining RAFT in December 2017, Sarah has led RAFT in fulfilling its mission of helping educators to transform a child’s learning experience through hands-on education to inspire the joy and discovery of learning. During her tenure Sarah has made many improvements to RAFT including forging new partnerships in the Bay Area education community. We would like to thank Sarah for her service to RAFT and wish her all the best in her future endeavors.
Nigel Ball has been named as Interim CEO and will take on these responsibilities as the Board of Directors of RAFT conducts an immediate search for, and ultimately appoints, a new CEO. Nigel is a veteran of RAFT. He held the role of Head of Marketing between 2009 and 2010. Subsequently, Nigel served on RAFT’s board, and as Board Chairman. He recently re-joined RAFT’s board, but will temporarily step off to fulfill the Interim CEO role. Nigel has also held executive positions at Hewlett Packard and most recently Oracle. “The Board is thrilled to have Nigel’s experienced leadership and strong knowledge of RAFT’s community of educators, volunteers, donors and partners to guide RAFT until our search and appointment of a new CEO is completed,” said Christine Martino, Chairman of the Board of RAFT. “I am honored that the board of RAFT has selected me as Interim CEO. I look forward to leading RAFT on this interim basis in its very important mission to increase STEAM skills with hands-on learning. I am especially pleased to have such a strong and dedicated leadership team and staff in place at RAFT. They are committed to working diligently to ensure we continue to serve our community, and to build and strengthen RAFT relationships with all of our stakeholders. I look forward to supporting them in this effort” said Nigel Ball, RAFT Interim CEO.
