In this activity, students investigate sound by listening to objects striking the insides of cups and use the perceived sounds to identify the objects making the sounds. The concepts and skills practiced help students to understand the relationship between soundwaves and material properties and provide a foundation for deeper explorations of wave properties in higher grades.
