Rebecca Balster is an eighth grade teacher at Ocala STEAM Academy and hosts the MESA program for the school. Her commitment to student’s understanding of STEAM has made an incredible impact on the students at Ocala.

Parent Sudha Kamath shared, “MESA after school program is an opportunity to learn STEAM topics with hands-on projects and mentoring and guidance from university students. Trips to SJSU campus to present their final works and then winners moving on to Regionals at UC Davis are some examples of how Ms. Balster helped students learn to navigate in the college spaces. RAFT Partner of the Year

The KLA Foundation has been a key partner of RAFT as they moved from the challenges of distance learning to grow their programs over these past years.

In 2022, the KLA Foundation provided a grant to purchase an additional Maker Mobile. Thanks to the purchase of this vehicle, RAFT can meet the demands of our district partners in providing hands-on learning experiences to our students in Title 1 and rural school districts. Over the past year alone, RAFT’s Maker Mobile program served over 10,000 students.

This past year, the KLA Foundation leveled up their giving to provide RAFT memberships and a shopping spree to every TK-8 educator at both Santa Clara Unified and Milpitas Unified School Districts.

In addition to these phenomenal projects, the KLA Foundation has also donated materials and organized multiple volunteer events with KLA employees to produce RAFT’s STEAM Project Kits for the classroom and their STEAM Dream Camp.

The KLA Foundation is committed to facilitating access to quality education as well as enriching their local communities, and RAFT is honored to partner with them in this work.

Again, thank you to all our honorees and partners for your unwavering support of RAFT over the years. Together, we are creating a lasting impact in STEAM education and empowering future generations!
